yep - several times. 1 in 10 people are just crazy at any one point in time. We moved to a new building with security cameras in the lunch room a year or so ago and it stopped. But now we know there is at least one absolute nut job among us.... yay.

Not at my office. We all know the only things that are fair game are the PBR in the fridge or donuts on the counter.

We actually had an anti- stealing issue last month where no one would eat the yogurt because none of us could remember who brought it in.

Yes. There was someone at my job who would frequently steal lunches. He got fired for other reasons, but  as soon as he was gone lunch theft stopped.

In my experience it’s more likely that there’s food that’s been sitting in there for several years because someone forgot about it, or quit, or otherwise, and no one’s going to touch something that isn’t theres . I imagine this product would also solve that problem, given that everyone would know who the asshole was and just toss the safe when something started rotting in it if they weren’t there to give them shit for it.

But I’m also Canadian, and have only occupied Canadian workplace lunchrooms. I imagine that has something to do with it.

Happened all the time at my office. We actually had to put in a security camera. I remember one morning a coworker totally despondent when her lunch was missing, “I stayed up all night cooking that...”

It  happened to me years ago. Caught him in the act. Multiple times. Confronting him did nothing. He ended up getting fired for it.

I never got why Twinkies were so popular. I much prefer the Hostess's other offerings like Ding Dongs or Ho Ho's.

Your company allows booze in the break room?

In my small department we’ve never had an issue, but our tiny kitchen and fridge ( like the rest of our department) is a secure area that a very limited number of people have access to. Visiting the much larger communal break room that everyone that works at the library has access to, the numerous signs posted on the subject suggest that it must happen.

We had a problem with lunches/leftovers disappearing in our office. Someone came in late one evening and found the cleaning folks had set up a buffet in our break room.

The cleaning company was fired the next day.

Yep, it used to happen at an old workplace of mine quite often. We finally figured out who the culprit was when I cooked some food using an insane amount of one of those super concentrated hot sauces.

Yes! It’s happened to me a few times

I would never  even eat other people's food at potlucks. I don't know how clean your kitchen is, but judging by your desk...

Someone after my own heart. Even though I always brought something to contribute, I skipped o ffice lunches because my rule is “I don’t eat food people bring from home.” Our office mgr loved me, so she started ordering the entree from a restaurant and then had people bring sides and desserts so I could go and at least eat something.

Right? And it wasn’t even something good. It was frozen knockoff hot pockets.

And the office manager/team leader said, “ let there be a beer pong table,” and there was a beer pong table.

I really have no idea. CEO, CFO, and HR are all aware. Truth be told, we probably drink less than corporate. We’re really all about work hard/play hard here!

Yeah, I used to have that rule - I tend toward germaphobia, but I can control it when I need to with some concentration .

I had a job after college that, among other things, involved going to a lot of potlucks, barbecues, community breakfasts, etc. and I learned pretty quickly that some people got insulted if I didn’t eat, so I started forcing it. That thought of people’s potentially filthy kitchens was always in the back of my mind, nagging, trying to come back out and take over.
